Evacuation Zones
Marin County evacuation plans are based on the Zonehaven technology pre-established evacuation zones. Sausalito is divided into nine (9) evacuation zones. The zones can be geo fenced into smaller sub-zones if necessary. The Zonehaven technology has been adopted by all of Marin County fire agencies, law enforcement agencies, and the County Office of Emergency Management. Other counties utilizing Zonehaven include Sonoma, Napa, Lake, San Mateo, Alameda, and Santa Clara counties.
Upon determining a zone to be evacuated the Sausalito PD/County Fire Agency unified command would notify the Office of Emergency Management Duty Officer who would craft and send an Alert Marin message to the affected zone(s) residence. Additionally, the delineated zone(s) would be identified to all Sausalito and mutual aid public safety units.
