The Asian American Experience on Angel Island

Virtual Program
The Asian American Experience on Angel Island
Wednesday, May 26
7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Zoom

The Angel Island Immigration Station was once the western gateway for immigrants entering the United States between 1910 and 1940. Today, the Immigration Station operates as a California State Park museum and National Historic Landmark that preserves the history of the site and of those who were detained there. At this virtual program, Russell Nauman will discuss the exclusionary policies that led to the station being built as well as the challenges and triumphs of the immigrants who arrived in San Francisco during the early 20th century. Special focus will be paid to the Asian American experience as part of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Russell Nauman is the operations manager for the Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation. Please RSVP for details on accessing the program via Zoom.
