The Role of the Planning Commission
- Review applications for design review and land use entitlements as set forth in planning and zoning laws of the City and the state.
- Perform such duties as specified in Chapter 2.20 of the Sausalito municipal code.
Meetings
- The five-member Planning Commission typically meets twice per month on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers at 420 Litho Street.
- All meetings of the Planning Commission are open to the public.
- The Planning Commission regularly holds joint meetings with the Historic Preservation Commission.
- Planning Commission meetings may be viewed live via webcast or as video recordings beginning on the day after a meeting takes place.
- Meeting times and agendas may be viewed on the meetings and agendas page for the Planning Commission.
Membership
- There are five at-large commissioners.
- Commissioners must be Sausalito residents.
- Commissioners must be appointed by the City Council.
- Commissioners may not serve on any other appointed City board or committee, except for those positions specified by the municipal code.
- The City Council encourages residents to apply to serve on the Planning Commission; if interested, please fill out an application form.
- The term length is three years, with a maximum of two terms.
- A member may continue to serve after her or his term expires, until a new member is appointed.
Liaisons
- Because of the importance of the Planning Commission, there is no single City Council liaison.
- The staff liaison is the Community Development Director.
