The City of Sausalito received an "A" grade for its tobacco control policies from the American Lung Association in the recently released State of Tobacco Control 2019: California Local Grades. Sausalito's grade improved from a "C" in 2018 thanks to the passage of a new ordinance that prohibits the sale of flavored tobacco products and requires that all tobacco retailers within the City obtain a tobacco retailer's license. The new ordinance was approved by the City Council in July 2018 and can be found in Sausalito Municipal Code chapter 12.28, Clean Indoor Air and Health Protection.
