Two family-friendly events with City of Sausalito sponsorship will take place on
Sunday, September 10, with Grandparents Day in the morning and Wellness Day in the afternoon. Details appear below.
Grandparents Day
Presented by Sausalito Parks and Recreation and funded by a grant from Marin County Aging and Adult Services, the inaugural Grandparents Day will take place in
Dunphy Park.
Free activities for all ages from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. include:
- Tug of war, lawn games, bocce, and sand volleyball.
- Legos with Mt. Tam Adventures.
- Crafting with Parks and Recreation volunteers.
- Portraits by local artist Jenny Siegal.
- Tie-dye with Jai Banks.
- Write a postcard with Sausalito Village.
- Drumming circles led by Ethan Hay.
- Tai Chi for arthritis and fall prevention.

Wellness Day
The focus then turns to Marin City for Wellness Day, a new event in the park at
100 Drake Avenue co-sponsored by Marin Health and Human Services, Golden Gate Village, and the City of Sausalito.
Activities from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. include:
- Booths to visit from more than 15 health and wellness vendors and community resource providers.
- Live fitness demonstrations of Zumba, weightlifting, and extreme hip hop.
- All-day DJ music.
- Speeches by Assemblymember Damon Connolly and other elected officials.
- Live music from Ron Rosson and the Music for the Soul Band.
- Healthy food from local restaurants that include the Spinnaker, Angelino, Sandrino, and Driver's Market.
- Pickleball on the new courts at the park.
Other community events taking place during the weekend of September 9 and 10 include Ready Sausalito, Shakespeare on the Water, the SCBC Oyster Celebration, and a closing reception for the Plein Air Art Show at Sausalito Center for the Arts.
