Property Management, Audit Update on City Council Agenda

Post Date:10/25/2024 1:50 PM
Management of the City's portfolio of rental properties and an update on the status of the fiscal year 2023-24 audit are among the topics on the agenda for a special meeting of the City Council at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29.

The hybrid-format meeting will be conducted in the City Hall Council Chambers and via Zoom. It will also be broadcast live on the City website.

The following business items are on the meeting agenda:
  • Item 5A - Property Management
To compensate for the lack of specialized property management expertise within the City workforce, City staff is recommending that the Council approve a $102,000, 12-month contract with Kimber Management. Anticipated benefits of professional management include optimized lease revenue and better maintenance of the City's rental properties. The City currently has a property portfolio with 37 active leases that generated $2,364,485 in revenue over the past fiscal year.

  • Item 5B - FY 2023-24 Audit Update
Finance Director Chad Hess will provide an update on the status of the fiscal year 2023-24 audit as part of an ongoing effort to keep the Council and the community informed of the City's financial position. According to unaudited results, the General Fund ended the year with a $2,645,619 surplus, with revenues exceeding budget by $1,021,509 and expenses under budget by $1,040,583. The final audit by Badawi & Associates is expected to be released in December 2024.

  • Item 5C - Enterprise Software
For item 5C, the Council will discuss a staff recommendation to consolidate the City's software-as-a-service platforms for finance, planning, and recreation into a single integrated platform from Tyler Technologies. In addition to offering increased efficiency over existing platforms, cost savings over eight years are expected to approach $500,000.
