Introduction

This page provides an archive of resources, news stories, and City Council items related to the historic Machine Shop in Sausalito's Marinship district. The Machine Shop is a 37,800-square-foot, two-story building that was constructed in 1942 as a part of the effort to build support ships during World War II. The property at 25 Liberty Ship Way was acquired by the U.S. Veteran's Administration in 2006. In 2016, the Machine Shop was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building is currently fenced off and abandoned, without any active uses.
