Purpose

As part of the 2007-2014 Housing Element Update the community came to recognize Accessory Dwelling Units (aka Second Units) as a low impact approach to addressing a portion of the Sausalito's very low and low income housing needs. In order to implement Housing Element programs that allowed both new ADUs and legalized existing ADUs, the Council directed a process whereby a subcommittee of the Housing Element Task Force reviewed draft regulations which were eventually adopted by the City Council as Ordinance No. 1209.

Membership

The Accessory Dwelling Unit Working Group was a three person subcommittee of the Housing Element Task Force and composed of Chair Joan Cox, Vice-Chair Ray Withy and Housing Element Task Force Member Kim Stoddard.
