How to Schedule Inspections

• Inspection requests should be made on the 24 hour Inspection Request Line at (415) 289-4100 ext. 800
• Callers will need to provide the following information in their request:
  • The desired day and date of the requested inspection
  • The permit number
  • The site address
  • Preference for AM or PM inspection (AM is 9AM to 12 noon; PM is 1PM to 4PM)
  • The type of inspection
  • A contact name and cell phone number for the person meeting the inspector on site

Inspection Information

• Every attempt will be made to perform inspections on the next regular inspection day; however, inspection requests will be processed on a first come, first serve basis. If an inspection request needs to be altered due to compliance with safety protocols, inspector’s schedule, or time constraints a phone call will be returned to the contact person. Otherwise, there will be no confirmation call returned and the inspection will be scheduled as requested.
• Requests must be made by 4:00 pm the day before the inspection. Any inspections requested after 5:00pm will automatically be considered for another inspection day.
• Re-inspections resulting from no-shows or failed prior inspection will be charged a re-inspection fee of $75.00.
• A responsible party shall be on site during the inspection and have the following paperwork on site:
  • Building approved plan set
  • Any additional documents issued with the plan sets (i.e. structural calculations, geotechnical reports, etc.)
  • The job card issued with the building permit

**Pursuant to Sausalito Municipal Code Section 12.16.140, Homeowners currently residing on the property and all other legal residents may operate construction, demolition, excavation, alteration or repair devices and equipment themselves on their own property on Sundays and holidays officially recognized by the City: provided, that such operations occur between 9:00am and 6:00pm and otherwise comply with the City's laws regulating noise.
