About Alarm Permits
The City of Sausalito requires businesses and homes within Sausalito City Limits to register for a alarm response permit before installing a private security alarm in their home or business
How to Apply
- Download and fill out the Alarm Permit Application
- Mail the application to the Sausalito Police Department
- Include the $80.00 one-time registration fee to the City of Sausalito to complete your application
- There will be a $40.00 annual registration renewal fee to maintain an active account
Benefits of Registering
- By registering your private alarm system, you will not be charged for the first three false alarm responses each fiscal year (July 1 through June 30)
- If your alarm system sends more than three false alarms per fiscal year, or you fail to get a permit for your system, you will be charged a service fee:
- False alarms 4, 5 and 6 will be charged a $105.00 service fee, per occurrence
- False alarms 7, 8, 9 and 10 will be charged a $210.00 service fee, per occurrence
- False alarms 11 or more will be charged a $320 service fee, per occurrence
- If your alarm system registers more than 11 false alarms in a fiscal year, or sends many false alarms within a short period, your alarm response permit will be suspended
- If your alarm response permit is suspended Police Officers will not
- A reinstatement fee of $105.00 will be charged to reinstate your alarm response permit
- Any and all outstanding false alarm service fees will be due to reinstate a suspended permit
- After reinstatement false alarms will be charged a flat $210.00 service fee, per occurrence
- If your alarm response permit is suspended Police Officers will not
