About Sausalito's Marine Patrol Unit

  • The Sausalito Police Department's Marine Patrol Unit was created in 2007 in response to the unusual challenges and demands of a large and diverse boating community in the waters surrounding the City of Sausalito
  • The Marine Patrol Unit's resources and capabilities are dedicated to enforcing local, state, and federal maritime laws, rendering assistance in emergency and distress situations, providing security on the waterways, and maintaining the safest possible boating environment
  • The Marine Patrol Unit routinely trains and conducts law enforcement operations with other agencies, including the United States Coast Guard, Marin County Sheriff’s Office, San Rafael Police Department, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife
  • Officers staffing our Marine Patrol Unit do so as a collateral duty to their normal patrol/investigative assignments
