About Sewer Lateral Repair or Replacement

Sewer Permits

• Effective on 3/16/2020, we only accept digital and online submittals. To submit an application, email completed application & all supplemental documents together to mlockett@sausalito.gov

Required Documents:

• Completed Sewer Permit Application
• Site plan with diagram showing location of sewer system including depths/dimensions on the property 
• Owner/Builder Package (Required with submittal of sewer permit application only if applied for by the property owner)

• Please note that that submittals are incomplete & cannot be reviewed until all above required items are received by the City, and all submittals are processed in the order in which they were received. Sewer permits have a minimum turn around time of two weeks, depending on the amount of applications already in queue for review.
• If the sewer repairs or replacement extend into the public right of way, an encroachment permit is also required.

Lateral Reimbursement Grant Program

• The City of Sausalito is currently accepting applications for assisting in the repair or replacement cost of privately owned sewer laterals within our service area. 
• If your sewer lateral is in need of repair, the City will fund 100% of the cost of the video inspection upon successful completion of the repair or replacement.
• The City of Sausalito is also offering to reimburse 50% of the repair or replacement cost of a private lateral up to a maximum of $1,000.
