The
City Council will hear an appeal of the Planning Commission's
approved design for improvements to the
Sausalito Ferry Landing plaza, pathways, and parking lot at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 13.
The special public hearing will be held in the City Hall Council Chambers and via Zoom and is expected to last approximately three hours.
The
appeal was filed by a cohort of 42 local residents that includes three architects from the community group of design professionals that, together with City staff,
presented an
initial design for the project in July 2021.
The public hearing on November 13 is expected to consist of the following elements in the order listed:
- Announcements by Councilmembers of communications with interested parties that are not already part of the public record (a.k.a. "ex parte" communications).
- City staff presentation describing the process the ferry landing project went through from a planning perspective, followed by Council questions.
- Applicant presentation by Public Works Director Kevin McGowan on the strengths and weaknesses of the project variations that have been considered by the Planning Commission, followed by Council questions.
- Appellant presentation, followed by Council questions for the appellant.
- Public comment.
- Applicant and appellant rebuttal time.
- City Council discussion, deliberation, and decision.
Additional details and a meeting agenda will be published in the November 10 edition of Currents. Written public comment in advance of the meeting may be sent to City Clerk Walfred Solorzano at wsolorzano@sausalito.gov.
The project is funded by a $2.4-million Federal Transit Administration grant administered by the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway, and Transportation District. Increasing the size of the plaza to better accommodate circulation and queuing is the primary grant requirement.
Any questions about improvements at the Ferry Landing may be directed to Public Works Director Kevin McGowan at (415) 289-4176 or kmcgowan@sausalito.gov.
