Sausalito will soon be under two National Weather Service alerts due to the impending arrival of the first atmospheric river storm of the season.
- A Wind Advisory is in effect for much of the Bay Area from 10:00 p.m. Tuesday through 6:00 a.m. Thursday. Strong southerly winds gusting to 45 mph will result in difficult driving conditions. When combined with the heavy rain, tree damage and related impacts are expected.
- A Flood Watch is in effect for the North Bay from 4:00 a.m. Wednesday through 4:00 a.m. Saturday. Flooding will be possible due to excessive rainfall.
- Weather forecast: Southern Marin Forecast and Area Forecast Discussion from the National Weather Service San Francisco Bay Area.
- Sand and sandbags: A self-serve station is available 24/7 at the south side of the MLK gym parking lot.
- Evacuation preparedness: Resources and checklists are available from FEMA at ready.gov/evacuation.
- Boat owners and dwellers: Secure your boat to protect it from damage.
- Emergencies: Call 9-1-1.
- Report flooding, blocked storm drains, and trees or branches in the public right-of-way to the Department of Public Works via online form, app (Apple, Android) or by calling (415) 289-4106.
- Downed power lines: Call 9-1-1, then call PG&E at 1-800-743-5000.
- Power outages: Get current information at the PG&E outage center.
- Road closure and situational alerts via text message from the Sausalito Police Department: Sign up at nixle.com or text your ZIP code to 888777.
- Evacuation alerts: Register for email, phone, or text alerts from Alert Marin.
- Incident map: Visit the County of Marin Public Emergency Portal to see major incidents such as flooding and evacuation areas.
