Renting a park/facility and hosting an event on city property

Rental rates run from $16 to $105 an hour depending on location, facility, and renter category. Click here to view a list of all Parks and Facilities Rental Fees

  • If you'd like to serve alcohol at your event
    • You must rent one of our facilities and add the $50 alcohol permit to your reservation. 
  •  If you want to have a bounce house at your event
    •  You need to rent Dunphy Gazebo, MLK field, or MLK basketball court. Bounce houses are not allowed at other locations. Dunphy is the only one with electricity (for an additional $25 fee). Bounce houses at MLK will require a generator. 
    • You must send us a Certificate of Insurance and an endorsement from the bounce house company by two weeks before the event date. Please email to recreation@sausalito.gov for more details and specific wording to be included in the endorsement. 
    • An additional liability waiver coming soon

Types of Renters:

  • Non-Profit (To qualify, you must email recreation@sausalito.gov proof of 501(c)(3))
  • Resident (Sausalito, Marin City address)
  • Non-Resident
  • Commercial (Anyone profiting or from event for using the space for business purposes)

Your event may qualify for an additional high or low impact permit. Please follow the instructions to fill out this application during your online rental reservation. When we review your application, we will determine which your event qualifies for and add an additional fee to your rental request. 

Low Impact - $50 fee, if any of the following apply:

  • 75-149 people in attendance
  • Multiple amenities reserved
    • Dunphy Park: less than 3 amenities
    • MLK Campus: less than 50% of a facility type

High Impact - $150 fee, if any of the following apply:

  • 150+ people in attendance
  • Multiple amenities reserved
    • 3+ amenities at one location (i.e. Dunphy gazebo, volleyball court, a bocce court)
  • Alcohol will be sold at your event
  • The event organizer will be collecting any funds from this event (i.e. entry fee, vendor fee, sponsorship funds)

Hosting a special event on private property?

To host a special event on private property, you may need a Minor Use Permit. Please reach out to cdd@sausalito.gov with questions or for the permit application.

An Encroachment Permit will be required for any event imposing on city streets, sidewalks, or pathways. 

Film or Photo Shoot on City of Sausalito property

 Submit the Film Permit Application form and you will be contacted within 3-5 days regarding your application. All submissions must be 2 weeks before activity date, or a rush fee may be charged.

Filming Fees:

  • $160 Still Photography
  • $270 Video, Documentary, Corporate, Industrial, Short
  • $475 Commercial
  • $675 TV Series, Feature Film
  • An additional encroachment fee for use of City streets/sidewalks

An Encroachment Permit will be required for any filming imposing on city streets, sidewalks, or pathways. 

Park rental fees may apply if filming at a city park.

If application is turned in within two weeks of filming a 50% surcharge may be applied. 

Putting up a Banner in the City of Sausalito

Submit the Banner Encroachment Application form and you will be contacted within 3-5 days regarding your application.

The Banner Placement and Sizes are:

  • Across Bridgeway (@ Shell Station) LENGTH: 25’- 35’    WIDTH: 3’- 4’ WIDE  **Banner space currently NOT available **

  • Fishing Pier on Bridgeway (next to Trident) & Basketball Court Fence @ Robin Sweeny Park  LENGTH: 11’- 11 ½’ MAX   WIDTH: 3 ½’ MAX

  • Flag banners on light poles along Bridgeway (up to 20 flag banners allowed) LENGTH: 84"MAX    WIDTH: 30" WIDE         2" POCKET
